Hello again fellow Tinnitus sufferers. Today we will further investigate alternative treatments for the relief of Tinnitus. Today I will concentrate on nutrition, as I feel this should be the first step in any quest for better health. “You are what you eat”, is how the old adage goes. How do you know what you’re eating in today’s society? Our food sources are grown or raised with the assistance of hormones, for bigger and faster results. What kind of effect is this having on all of our bodies? Each of our bodies’ metabolisms is a little different. We all have the same basic nutritional needs to maintain life, but due to genetic make up of our bodies, we may not be absorbing the necessary nutrients. This, in my opinion, is the basis of all disease. Our bodies are by design is supposed to rebuild itself daily.

Without proper nutrition, some functions of the body cannot perform as they were intended. Symptoms occur, and our physicians try, as best they can, to diagnose the problem. Then they prescribe synthesized medicine to treat the symptoms. Again not a natural supplement, and may not be absorbed by the body, and could cause undesirable side effects.

How, you may ask, does nutrition affect Tinnitus? I mentioned before that there is no cure for Tinnitus. It is of the utmost importance, that we get an accurate diagnosis of our bodies’ situation. Your Physician can do blood tests to determine what is present in your system, and then calculate what you need to do to supplement your body’s needs. But, for those of you, me included, who have a dislike of needles there is another method of coming to the same conclusion. It could very well be even more accurate.

Hair testing. Your hair, which grows about ½ inch per month, contains minerals, and toxins which are constantly being deposited into the hair follicles. This makes them a sort of medical history of what your body consumes. Because of this record your physician can better diagnose any nutritional deficiencies that may exist. Again No Needles!

Let’s start by looking at B complex vitamins. They are a group of nutrients whose purpose is to assist the metabolism, and energy production. The B vitamins maintain healthy skin, eyes, muscle tone, liver function, and the central nervous system.

By helping the central nervous system, cope with stress and anxiety. Stress and anxiety are known to be causes of Tinnitus. The deficiency of B vitamins is linked to hearing loss. B vitamins are water soluble, and cannot be stored in the body. Therefore need to be taken daily. The exception to that is B12, which has to be injected into muscle, and not as frequently, and in smaller doses. B vitamins are in our food as well. Beans, eggs, brewers yeast, whole grains, brown rice, and seafood. B1 vitamin has given some people relief of Tinnitus, by stabilizing the central nervous system.

At 57, and being a long time Tinnitus sufferer. I came to realize that conventional medicine alone couldn’t repair the damage to my hearing (Tinnitus). My wife worked for an Ears Nose and Throat Practice for 8 yrs. All of the drops, Prescriptions, therapies were only a minor, temporary, relief to my Tinnitus. As I get older I seem to notice my Tinnitus even more. So I started looking for answers in a different, alternate, place. Reading numerous articles, journals trying to find an answer. I don’t believe that any one approach can be effective for the relief of Tinnitus. I did find a book that explained most all of the approaches to the question.

What can I do to get relief of Tinnitus? The book covers everything from traditional medicine’s approach, to herbal, nutritional, as well as other alternative remedies for the relief of Tinnitus. It is to date the most complete approach to this affliction.
